The Wiki Game gets Race, Click, Jesus, '6 Degrees' & 'No US' Game Types!

Hello Wiki Gamers!

Over the past several months, many of you asked for new Wiki Game types to expand the ways you can play the game.

I'm now extremely excited to announce they are here!

Speed Race

Fastest to goal Wikipedia article.

Least Clicks

Fewest clicks to goal Wikipedia article.

5 Clicks to Jesus

5 clicks or less to the 'Jesus' Wikipedia article.

6 Degrees of Wikipedia

Exactly 6 clicks to goal Wikipedia article.

No United States

No using the 'United States' Wikipedia article to find goal.

They are all list here: http://thewikigame.com/game-types, go play The Wiki Game now!

Thanks, and let me know if you have any feedback!

Wikipedia Game is becoming "The Wiki Game"

Hi all WG-ers out there.  Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on some changes we are making over the next week or so.
These changes involve us moving to the new name "The Wiki Game", and they won't effect anything about the actual game play or content, just the name and domain we use.

The reasons that we are changing our name to "The Wiki Game" are:

  1. The Wikimedia Foundation has asked the we not use their trademarked name "Wikipedia" in our official name and domain.  We absolutely want to comply with this request, because after all, it's what they created in the first place that has made the Game possible!  Remember, Wikipedia stays strong by everyone donating - go do it, we did!
  2. The name "The Wiki Game" is short and sweet, and it's what a lot of us call the game already!

We are happy about the switch, and we hope you like it too.
Finally, we are still hunting bugs, and working on great new features (see here: http://wikipediagame.uservoice.com) that we know you all will love!

See you on The Wiki Game!

What's new with Wikipedia Game

Welcome!

First off, welcome to the new Wikipedia Game blog.  We hope to give you all a closer look at what's going on with Wikipedia Game.

What's New?

A new design of the very awesome Wikipedia Game mascot, Wendell!  The cool new mascot design was made possible from a joint collaboration with those at TidyArt.com (who by the way create some fantastic art, check it out!) and also with TheFurtherProject.com (creators of beautiful pieces of art, and t-shirts!).  We're really excited about the new design, and we hope you all like it.

Next up: we are really trying to eliminate bugs in the game!  Work was done to try to stop the 'missing pages in click path bug', and although the are still issues (which are mostly just win reporting issues currently, aka your win gets counted and appears in your stats, but is not reported to you right away).  We also added a 'report game issue' link at the top left of all games.  Please click this if (when ;-) you see problems.

A couple thousand new start and end articles have been added to the games articles list, thanks to Josh Goldfoot ('jgfoot' on WikipediaGame) .  Josh has also been contributing other awesome improvements and ideas that will appear in upcoming releases, so a very big thanks to Josh for all his efforts!

Finally, we are keeping a close eye on what Features and Issues everyone is voting for at http://wikipediagame.uservoice.com. The new feature 'Variation: a non-real time version where you win for the least number of clicks' is coming pretty soon, along with other great new features.  For the time being we are going to focus on fixing bugs, so please bear with us, and provide any feedback you can, as we continue to remove fail and add awesomeness to the Wikipedia Game!  Happy WikipediaGame'ing.
